Arjun Bijlani, who is currently seen as Saveer Rathod in MX Players' web series Roohaniyat, is all pepped up for his new role. At the press meet of his web series in national capital Delhi, the actor spoke about delving into the OTT space after State of Siege: 26/11 with a character that's very different from him.
Talking exclusively to ETimes TV, he said, "As an actor you always want to get out of your comfort zone and perform a character that is challenging.
Saveer is that character that I thought as an actor I'd enjoy doing. My directors convinced me that I should do it and I can pull it off."
Interestingly to promote the show, Arjun had posted an image on social media which read 'Forever love is a lie'. Since it came without any pretext back then (it is the tagline of the web series), many of his friends and fans thought there's trouble in his marriage with Neha. It made Arjun share another post clarifying all's well in his haven.
Reacting to the episode, he said, "I got so many calls because everybody thought there's something wrong between me and Neha. And it wasn't. It was very funny because we are doing a show together. Sabko laga wahan jhagda toh nahi ho gaya. We had friends calling. So, I had to put up an explanation that it's me promoting my show and not personal. If you see the poster, it says 'Forever is a lie'. It wasn't deliberate to get attention. It was to promote the show."
While Arjun's career is on the uphill right now with Roohaniyat, Smart Jodi and India's Got Talent (where he is seen as a host), there was a dull phase in his career after Miley Jab Hum Tum.
Arjun opened up about the difficult phase and the valuable lessons it taught him. He said, "I was very sad actually. I wasn't offered the kind of roles I wanted to do. I also thought I'll do bigger things and I said no to a lot of stuff. And then I thought I should have done some projects. You know you regret some decisions. I was depressed as it was happening after Miley Jab Hum Tum."
He added, "Back then I told myself that just because something is not happening at a particular time doesn't mean that you are not capable of achieving things. And I went ahead with my life, I struggled, I even got married. Once Ayaan came in, life completely changed. It was like a 360 degree turn. I signed Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi and Naagin which became such a huge success that things started falling into place."
And when asked if a sequel of Miley Jab Hum Tum should be made, the actor beamed, "I wish it comes back. That's one show that has been very close to me. It was so colourful, real and full of masti. I want all four of us to get back and do Miley Jab Hum Tum's web show."
